Midwinter
by minichessemouse

Jack frost had been around drawing his delicate
ice pictures for weeks, the snow has fallen deep.

A tree had been chopped and decorated.

The children were all asleep.

A bright fire burned in the hearth,

The adults sipped mulled wine and warmed their toes,

A feeling of contentment in every heart.

A great feast was planned for the next day

If the sun rose.

Will it rise? It always has before.

The night draws on, the adults feel weary but do not sleep.

They must wait,

they must make sure that the sun will rise, then there will be feasting

and gifts to celebrate a new year.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
