Picture Bug Quiz: The Firebug

Superfrenchie shared this firebug with us. In France, it is called a 'gendarme'. In Germany and Austria, a Feuerwanze. Its Latin name is Pyrrhocoris apterus. It's found just about everywhere, but is extremely rare in North America.

Q. In the 1960s, Harvard University researchers weren't able to raise firebugs in captivity. They developed into something out of a scifi/horror movie and died. What turned out to be the problem?

Firebug, or gendarme, or Feuerwanze
