This week's title is Landscapes of the Mind. The composite image shows a couple of tents camped high in the French Alps among craggy mountains and wispy clouds in a blue sky. There's a ruined castle that wasn't there when Caiman slept there. There's a brown tabby cat on the steps that Galaxy Babe snapped - but that tv antenna wasn't on the castle when she took the picture. There are a lot of birds perched on that aerial. The alpine landscape has also been enriched by a cluster of brown-eyed Susans from Pennsylvania, with a butterfly on them from the Wirral, UK. This would be a peaceful scene if it wasn't being menaced by one of Bluebottle's tanks.

Like the landscape? The Post contributors made this – okay, I did, but they added the elements that make up a unique composite. This pretty much describes every Post issue. People send in things from all over: a rare bird here, a cartoon there, holiday snaps that include weird signage, mountain climbing, and tank displays. And I pretend (butter wouldn't melt in my mouth) that it's all about some theme or another. In other words, we did it on purpose.

Sure we did. Wink, wink. Let's hear it for happy accidents.

Bluebottle isn't really threatening anybody with that tank. He's just back to round off his three-part series. You'll enjoy it even if you aren't a military history buff. When you're done, be sure to stop by his comic to see how the raid on the police station computer is going. This story is wild, I tell you.

We finished the novellas last week – all except for Caiman, who has an explanatory afterword he's calling 'Festivus Eggs'. We might have to name a holiday after this practice.

Speaking of novellas, if you know anybody you dislike enough to give books to, rather than what they'd rather have, like liquor, The Building has gone on sale on Lulu. The money goes to h2g2, so if you buy one, you're helping the site. I believe there will be an ebook eventually. It will be considerably cheaper. I understand another publication is in the works, and as always, there are a variety of h2g2.com books on offer. Check the Lulu page for details. You're sure to find something you like.

We have more astonishing photography in this issue. Some of it is astonishingly good. Some of it just makes you wonder, 'What the heck?' There are beautiful plants and birds doing mysterious things and cats hiding in plain sight.

We also have humour (for the gazillionth time, yes, that's what it is) and a quiz and some cinema with sex in. Read at your own peril.

Have a great week out there, even if school has started again. Notice everything around you – each day has a surprise in store. Remember: your viewpoint is unique. Take time to share.
